SHEIKH Hamdan’s Alyaasaat (Aus) has been supplemented as an entry to the Gr1 Gr1 R750,000 Premiers Champion Stakes over 1600m at Greyville on 28 July following his excellent Maiden win over 1400m at Turffontein last Saturday.
Alyaasaat, in touch early, skipped away smartly at the 300m mark, putting almost five lengths between himself and the runner-up without being hard pressed by Randall Simons.
Mike de Kock commented: “He’s a smart young horse, I liked him quite a bit first time out but he carried some condition and ran out of steam. This win was impressive, he could be a Graded quality horse and if we get a good draw in the Premiers he will run.”
Alyaasaat is the first Aus-bred winner in South Africa for Darley Stallions’ Dawn Approach (Ire). He was bred from a mare by Distant View (US).
