FIVE-year-old mare Candy Singer (ARG) will be retiring to stud after her excellent win over Durban July hopeful Pierre Jourdan in last week’s Grade 3 Jubilee Handicap over 1800m at Turffontein.
Assistant trainer Mathew de Kock, who saddled her on his father’s behalf to this valuable black-type win, said that Gaynor Rupert’s mare will be leaving Randjesfontein soon to settle down at the picturesque Drakenstein Stud farm in the Franschoek Valley. Candy Singer will be joining Rupert’s select band of broodmares and resident stallions Trippi and Horse Chestnut.
Candy Singer, by Singspiel from Candy Girl (x Candy Stripes) retires following a career showing 27 runs, 5 wins and 10 places. She earned R473 000 in stakes.
